Christmas is it to commercial?

Sitting here the night before Thanksgiving thinking to myself is it really a holiday anymore or has retailers taken the holiday away from employees for their personal greed?

This year it is a question we should all be asking ourselves even if we don't work in the retail sector. Is Christmas to commercial?  Have we completely lost sight of what the holiday season means?  With many retailers this year opening on Thanksgiving day and lots of people who are buying into the hype, is it really worth you leaving the family to go out and getting that one Christmas present that you must have for gift giving?  Will you not find it if you wait?  Do the people who actually run these companies meaning the CEO would approve of having one of his family members forced into working on a family holiday?

First let me just say that Christmas is commercialized almost to the point of us losing the focus of what we should be focusing on the Birth of our Savior Jesus.  When you post the question to children and ask them what is Christmas the first thing that comes from their mouth is Santa Clause, then gifts, then food and then lastly and sadly the Birth of Christ.  I find this to be a very sad state of what we have become.  How we think Christmas the Birth of Christ is about Santa, things and food and not about the  man who gave us the greatest gift the gift of everlasting life with him.  Shameful and disgraceful.  And now to make it even worst companies are asking families to sacrifice their holiday of Thanksgiving and go shopping this has upset me to no end and I am so sickened by all the greed.  You might want to ask yourself this question What do you think Jesus would say of all of this?  He would not be happy I assure you.  He would also be disappointed to see that we place to much emphasis on things rather then people that we would rather give up time with our families in order to hit the stores on Thanksgiving evening just to buy more stuff.  Retailers have taken this to a new level taking away another holiday for family time.  Forcing people who have to labor, into working on a day that in the past was a day off with family has turned into another work day away from the family.

It is bad enough that retailers have people working on Sundays a day that was to be for rest and family, people who work in these types of jobs need their jobs but they don't need to be exploited for someone else's greed.  I think a retailer that says no to this is one I admire.  I don't think many will read this and if they do I hope they take this message and share it with others because it needs to be said and it needs to be shared.
